The following representatives have been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Nechako Environmental Enhancement Fund Society
Justus is Rio Tinto Alcan’s Coordinator, Nechako Operations in British Columbia, based in Vanderhoof, B.C. He is primarily responsible for managing all operations and asset maintenance related to the Nechako Reservoir and represents Rio Tinto Alcan in many official capacities related to environmental stewardship initiatives. Among his appointments are the following: The Nechako Fisheries Conservation Program; Nechako White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative; Nechako Watershed Council; and The Nechako Kitamaat Development Fund Society. Prior to working for Rio Tinto Alcan in 2003, Justus worked as an environmental consultant in British Columbia and before that a botanist at Royal Botanical Gardens in Ontario.
Shawn is a Resource Manager at the Prince George Natural Resource District for the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations. He moved out to BC from Newfoundland in 1991 after graduating from University of New Brunswick. Outside of work, he has served on the board of Prince George Minor Hockey Association, Prince George Spruce Kings, World Baseball Challenge and most recently the 2017 TELUS Cup. Shawn has also been a member of Ducks Unlimited while chairing the Prince George Spring Committee for the past 12 years. Shawn is a Registered Professional Forester with the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
Phil retired six years ago after a thirty-year career in the field of natural resource management. Phil is a graduate from the school of Forestry at the University of British Columbia and spent twenty-two years working in Prince George when he was promoted to the Regional Executive Director of the Southern Interior Region, Ministry of Forests and Range, and moved to Kamloops in 1984. His final assignment was acting in the position of Assistant Deputy Minister of Operations in the same ministry for eighteen months. Since his retirement he has stayed active consulting, competing and judging with his wife, Mary, in the sport of Dog Agility and spending plenty of time with their three grandchildren. Phil is a Registered Professional Forester with the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
